Department: Production / Foundry Operations
Reports To: Production Supervisor or Foundry Manager
Position Summary:
The Foundry Molder is responsible for preparing, assembling, and maintaining molds used in the metal casting process. This position ensures molds meet quality standards, are properly prepared for pouring, and contribute to safe and efficient foundry operations. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build, prepare, and repair sand molds and cores according to production specifications.
- Read and follow work orders, blueprints, patterns, and casting instructions.
- Set molds, cores, chills, and gating systems as required.
- Inspect molds for defects and make corrections before pouring.
- Operate molding equipment, sand systems, and related foundry machinery.
- Assist with mold stripping, shakeout, and cleaning operations.
- Maintain proper sand quality and monitor molding materials.
- Perform quality checks to ensure castings meet specifications.
- Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and company policies.
- Keep work areas clean and organized using 6S principles.
- Assist with other production duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous foundry, manufacturing, construction, or industrial experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to read measuring devices and basic production documents.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and climb as needed.
- Ability to work in hot, dusty, noisy, and physically demanding environments.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Working Conditions:
- Industrial foundry environment with exposure to heat, dust, vibration, and noise.
- Overtime and weekend work may be required based on production demands.
